There are few Navy veterans who can claim to have started as an E-2 seaman second class and ended their military career as a rear admiral.
Paul Norby, who flew dive bombers from carrier decks in World War II, can make just that claim. He began his career at the bottom while learning to fly at Wold-Chamberlain Field and ended it in the lofty hierarchy of the Naval Reserve.
